A day in the life of an Axia College student.
As a student at Axia College, you log on and learn—anytime, anywhere. You go online and participate in class at least three days a week, but
Nine weeks in length, courses are offered in pairs, with your workload designed to complement each other. Emphasis alternates in each course between reading and online discussion one week and a work project the next.
Ready to learn more? Here’s an idea of how you can balance your learning with your life.
6 a.m.
You wake up, grab some juice and sit down to do your assignment before going to work. Later, your roommate comes into the kitchen. You talk a few minutes about your next game in the city volleyball league and the songs you’re going to add to your playlist. Then you wrap up your homework, pack up your laptop and head to work.
Noon
You find a table at the deli and start eating your sandwich while your laptop boots up. You have to log into class at least three times a week and lunchtime works perfectly. You read the latest assignment from your instructor and begin researching information. Then you post your comments on this week’s discussion question and check out what your classmates have shared. Being able to connect and network with your peers is great. And since your classes are limited to just 20 students, there’s never that feeling of being lost in a lecture hall with hundreds of other students.
4 p.m.
Afternoon break. You log on and ask your instructor a question. You know he’ll get back to you by the end of the night. He has an advanced degree, so he knows what he’s talking about. And he’s really involved in the class. You love being able to email him anytime or call him during regular office hours. It’s also reassuring to know there’s a resource center at the nearby University of Phoenix campus, where you can study, get extra help, meet other students, or access computers and Wi-Fi.
6 p.m.
After work, you text a friend and decide to meet up for dinner. You talk about where you want to live and what you want to do some day. Wherever you end up, you know earning your associate’s degree will give you a solid foundation to make good things happen. You’re amazed at how much better you already are at writing, communicating, solving problems, using information and thinking critically. You know that’s exactly what you’ll need when you transition into a bachelor’s degree program at University of Phoenix.
9 p.m.
Your friend sends you a text with a new picture. You decide to post it on your MySpaceSM page. While there, you check out the Axia College MySpace page and chat with your friends for a while. Next, you see that your instructor has replied to your email so you incorporate his helpful feedback into your paper. Then you continue the research you started earlier. Wrapping up your work for the night, you know your assignment will be completed on time.
You also know that those plans you talked about at dinner may not be that far off.
